PAR211 Assessment Task 3 2020. The
manager for clinical practice and education at the ambulance
service you work for has asked you to develop a report and a
Clinical Practice Guideline (CPG) on Excited Delirium Syndrome
(ExDS) in order to ensure that paramedics are able to
recognise and manage the clinical features of this potentially
lethal syndrome. This request has come about as a result of a
recent increase in patients presenting with signs and symptoms
representative of ExDS and the death of one of these

Presentation This task consists of Part A and Part
B. Part A: This task requires you to develop a report that
aims to present information on Excited Delirium Syndrome
(ExDS) to paramedics. The topic content and language must be
designed for this target audience. Please use section headings
within the report. An abstract is not required. Word
limit: 2000 ± 10% The report must include an
evidence-based analysis of published data from peer-reviewed
scientific sources in order to describe the
following: 1. Epidemiology of ExDS
Nationally and Internationally; 2. Pathophysiology of
ExDS; 3. Clinical features of ExDS and health emergencies
associated with ExDS; 4. Paramedic management of patients with
clinical features and history suggesting ExDS; 5. Legal and
ethical issues pertaining to the care of patients with
ExDS. Part B: This task requires you
to develop a Clinical Practice Guideline (CPG) detailing assessment
and management criteria for patients presenting with ExDS in
the out of hospital setting. Word limit: 500 ±
10% Referencing: The required referencing style for Part A and
Part B is Vancouver-JAMA style. A link to Vancouver – JAMA
style is included in the “Assessment” area of Blackboard for this
course.
